Automutilation
L'auto-mutilation fait référence à quelqu'un qui se fait mal volontairement. Ce sont des comportements que ces individus utilisent dans le but de faire face à la vie. Les moyens utilisés pour se faire mal sont : se couper (aussi appellé s'auto-couper ou s'auto-mutiler), se brûler, se gratter ou se frapper la tête. Ces comportements peuvent se présenter pour une variété de raisons : ils peuvent se présenter dans des cas d'autisme, de dépression ou de troubles du comportement alimentaire. Parce que ces individus s'auto-mutilent afin de pouvoir faire face (ce qui n'est pas très utile), la solution est d'aider l'individu à trouver une façon plus saine de faire face à son stress. À titre d'exemple : discuter de son stress, aborder le problème de front afin de trouver une solution, et autres stratégies (comme de l'exercice ou de la musique). Si la personne est incapable de régler son problème par elle-même, elle devrait voir un médecin, conseiller ou thérapeute.
